The band Linkin Park clearly needs no introduction considering the massive amount of success that the band has received. This is not only in America but in the entire world. Their songs have become massive hits on almost all charts in the major parts of the world. The band was formed way back in 1996 in Agoura Hill, California. Theirs has been an impressive performance as they rapidly rose to fame with their releases. A clear indication of this is how their debut album Hybrid Theory rose to international fame. The album was certified Diamond by the RIAA while in other countries where the band had a huge following, the album went multi platinum. They improved their initial performance with the release of the Meteora album which also topped the Billboard 200. As a result of this success, the band opted to venture into extensive touring coupled with a lot of charity work as part of building their popularity around the world.

This saw them being named as the sixth greatest band of the music video era and the third best band of the new millennium by MT2. This result saw them come second to Oasis and Coldplay respectively. The Billboard also ranked them at position nineteen of the best artistes of the decade chart. A reason for their rise to the top is that they played nu metal and rap genres which they toned down to bring out a more radio friendly style that is also densely layered in Hybrid Theory and Meteora. Their other albums including Minutes to Midnight saw them explore other genres of music which also worked out well for them. Another major boost to their career was when they worked with Jay Z in their mashup EP titled Collision Course which saw them release a remix to the single Encore.
