Slayer’s Jeff Hannerman Is Recovering from Flesh-Eating Disease (Arm Infection)

Jeff HannemanJeffrey John “Jeff” Hanneman was stuck by a Necrotizing fasciitis (NF), also known as flesh-eating bacteria syndrome or flesh-eating disease, a very rate infection which damages deeper layers of skin. I will not go into details, but it looks really nasty.

As online sources state Jeff is free from it but still needs some time for rehabilitation. In his interview to Billboard.com, Tom Araya, Slayer’s bassist, said it was a really great ordeal for Jeff, but he was working on his playing ability.

The truth is that he can play now, but for a very short period of time and full recovery will not happen soon. Jeff got not only skin but too muscles and nerves damage so his playing ability will not come back easily. Jeff is facing really hard times now and I wish him strength to come over it. We love Slayer, we love what Jeff does and we are sure we will hear him performing even better than before. What doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger.

Jeff Hannerman was born in 1964, he is not only a lead guitarist and founding member of the band, but too musical and lyrical contributor. He wrote such songs as “Angel of Death”, “Raining Blood” and “South of Heaven” which are played at almost every live concert of the Slayer band.

Screaming for Vengeance Special 30th Anniversary Edition to be Released on September 4

Judas Priest (formed in 1969), a heavy metal band from Birmingham, England announced a release of the expanded version of the album ‘Screaming for Vengeance’. First time the album was released on June 17 in 1982, then in 2001 a remastered CD version was released and now they have remastered the songs once again and included some bonus tracks.
Screaming for Vengeance

You, guys, should know the history of the album to dig why it is so important for Judas Priest Band. The thing is that it was a real commercial bomb. RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) labeled the album gold in 1982, platinum in 1983 and two-times platinum in 2001. Not bad, yeah?

The guys do their best to advertise the album wherever they can, so why not to help them. this album is a real good purchase for all Judas Priest fans. It too includes a live DVD film at US Festival Show, Can Bernardino in 1983. The festival was actually a celebration of new technologies to become part and partial of music, a so-called marriage of computer and people. Yes, in the past people used to go to the store to purchase music. 🙂

Mick Jagger Turned 69 Yesterday! Happy Birthday Mick!

Sir Michael Philip “Mick” Jagger, the founder of the Rolling Stones band celebrated his 69th birthday yesterday! He is not only a singer, songwriter and great musician but too an actor. He started acting in films in 1960, in 1985 he released his solo album called ‘She’s the Boss’ and in 2009 he joined SuperHeavy, an eclectic supergroup.

Happy Birthday Mick Jagger

While Mick is probably suffering from a hangout at the moment, let’s recollect more from his life.

Mick is a very cool guy in fact. In 2003 he was knighted, this is why he is actually a SIR. Just in case you don’t know: in Great Britain the knight the coolest guys for the personal achievements or great service to the country. So it is an exceptional honor.

Mick Jagger was born in a family of a teacher (father) and a hairdresser (mother), a middle class family Dartford, England. He had two younger brothers who were brought up to become teachers like their father.

So Mick was born in a ‘right’ family with ‘right’ parents and only God knows how he became a counterculture rock musician.

Anyway, I wish him the best of luck and never-ending inspiration for creating music.

I am also Including video of the Rolling Stones performing first time on MTV.

Radiohead’s ‘Street Spirit (Fade Out)’ Was Covered by The Darkness

The Darkness, glam-rockers from Great Britain, Lowestoft, which was formed in 2000 recorded a cover version of the Radiohead’s ‘Street Spirit’ (Fade Out)’ which is now streaming online. It is the first studio-recorded cover of the band.

The first time when people heard the song was on Radiohead’s classic album ‘The Bends’ released in 1995. The song was released once again the next year; then it became a Top Five hit of the band.

The Darkness band places the song at live performances for couple of years already. Only now the studio version is scheduled to appear on ‘Hot Cakes’ album. Since yesterday you can hear ‘Street Spirit’ (Fade Out)’ song streaming at PitchFork.com.

Hot Cakes Album Cover

‘Hot Cakes’ is the first studio album of The Darkness since ‘One Way Ticket to Hell and Back’ album released in 2005. The album cover art is designed in honey colors. There are three syrup-daggled chicks wearing swimming suits. There is also a sign that the album is recorded in stereo. Probably guys believe there are bands which still record in mono [joking here].

‘Hot Cakes’ will be released on the 21st of August at Wind-Up Records. Tell me how good the album is if you are going to purchase one.

Pearl Jam’s Fans in Missoula Wait for Hours to Buy Tickets

Pearl Jam T-shirts

Back in June Pearl Jam accounted their show in Missoula which will take place on the 30th of September at University of Montana Adam’s Center. Well such behemoth rock bands don’t very often visit Missoula very often, but Jeff Ament (band’s bassist) was born in Montana. The last time the band from Seattle visited Missoula back in 2005.

Fans in Missoula were unlucky; they simply couldn’t purchase tickets online and were forced to do it in an old-fashioned way. They had to wait for many hours in line so great the need for tickets was.

Missoula

When the Adams Center opened there were more than 100 Pearl Jam fans waiting for their chance to get additional 1100 tickets.

The rush is really great. People got ready for a day-long waiting and the place now resembles camping with tourists. They camp for many hours. One woman was even reading up for her exam she is taking in couple of days.

It is always pleasant to see such a great devotion to the band and its music. For me Pearl Jam is a really great fan and I have two T-shirts in my collections. If you want to honor the band too, you can check up Pearl Jam clothing collection available at our store.

Plus, as always a well-known but really great video: Pearl Jam ‘Black’ (Love Pearformance).

Bon Jovi Will not be an American Idol Next Season Judge

After the owner of one of the sexiest asses on the pop stage Jennifer Lopez suggested that Jon Bon Jovi would be a great successor to her at American Idol show, lots of people believed this would happen. Snooks!

Bon Jovi and JLO

Image: TMZ.com

Jon’s friends and online sources which are very close to the singer say he is too busy to take part in that. They say he is too busy with other projects, his new album and a huge tour to come soon, as reported at TMZ.

The rumor started when Jennifer said she would love to see someone like Jon, Bono or Mick Jagger to ABC News. She had been judging at American Idol for two years and now she wants to make a pause.

I have check Jon’s website’s new section and there is not a single word about American Idol show or JLO. So we are all awaiting his new great tour and new album but not sitting in old Jennifer’s seat.

To crown it all I want to add ‘Its My Life’ video. I know you have seen it thousands of times, but do watch it once again.

World’s Largest Drumsticks Belong to Dave Grohl

David Eric “Dave” Grohl is known as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, lead vocalist of Foo Fighters and the drummer of the Nirvana band. He is too a co-founder of rock band Them Crooked Vultures and the number of side projects of minor importance.
Worlds Largest Drumsticks

In fact it is not Dave who owns the giant sticks, but his native town Warren, Ohio, where recently a status of two 900-poud drum stick was unveiled. Rolling Stone reports that these sticks were certified as the largest in the world by Guiness Book of Records.

The huge sticks will be on public display until September at Warren Amphitheater, then they tocated to Dave Grohl Alley. According to Rolling Stone, Dave was born in Warren but lived there only couple of years. When he was a child, his family moved to Virginia suburbs of Washington D.C.

You can see the huge drumsticks being crafted on the video I am embedding here too.

Slash, Ex Guitarist of Guns N’ Roses Was Honored with a Hollywood Star (+Video)

Slash on the Walk of Fame

The image was taken at http://www.who2.com

Saul Hudson, also known as Slash, was born on the 23rd of July in 1965. He is a guitarist and a songwriter. Although, he is best known as a guitarist of the Guns N’ Roses band, he too performed in Velvet Underground. He sold over 100 million albums being a part of these two bands and recently has released he solo album called ‘Apocalyptic Love’, which was number 4 on the Billboard top 200.

Last Tuesday Slash got a Hollywood Walk of Face star. His first fans were visitors of nightclubs in Los Angeles Sunset Strip, but the star seems to be really fitting him. 🙂 Slash was a part of the Hollywood factory for a rather long time and admitted that the start was a really great honor for him: “And so I want to thank everybody for this; it’s unbelievable” he said at the ceremony.

Finally if you don’t know… The Hollywood Walk of Fame consists of 2,400 five-pointed stars which are made of terrazzo and brass. It occupies the territory of 15 blocks of Vine Street and Hollywood Boulevard. The stars divided into five categories: motion pictures, broadcast television, audio records/music, broadcast radio and theatre. Each of the categories has a special emblem.

There is too a so called ‘special category’ where you can find stars to corporate entities and service organizations. The stars of this category are located separately from the others on a private territory.

Metallica to Contribute to Dio Tribute Album 2012

Ronnie Dio

Ronald James Padavona (July 10, 1942 – May 16, 2010)

Dio
band was formed in 1982 by Ronnie James Dio and Vinny Appice, former members of Black Sabbath. From commercial point of view the name ‘Dio’ was really cool, because it was already known by heavy metal fans. In Italian ‘Dio’ means ‘God’, by the way.

Ronnie Dio died on the 16th of May in 2010, of stomach cancer. Now, two years later, his wife Wendy Dio got lots of rock and heavy metal bands together to record a tribute album to Dio.

Metallica, one of the greatest heavy metal bands ever, is going to contribute to the album too. James Hatfield noted that it was a real pleasure to be a part of honoring of Ronnie’s life and his great contribution to rock music. At the moment even Metallica don’t know which of the songs they are going to record, but I am sure it will be damn great no matter the choice.

Besides Metallica the following bands and musicians will be contributing too: Anthrax, Rob Halford, Dave Grohl, Lemmy and more.

I am too including Holy Diver video, Holy Diver alubum is considered to be Dio’s best work and heavy metal music classic example.

The Monkees’ Davy Jones Dead at 66

British rocker and former member of The Monkees, Davy Jones, died last Wednesday at his home in Florida. He was 66.

Davy Jones

Source: cnn.com

Jones was once just another aspiring actor/singer. He first tasted success in 1964 after winning a Tony nomination as the Artful Dodger in the long running play Oliver! But all that changed when he was chosen for the rock group that became known to millions through their TV series The Monkees. Davy Jones, a known talent with a studio contract, was cast first as the lead singer. Mickey Dolenz, Peter Tork, and Michael Nesmith were then brought aboard as the rest of a still-imaginary band. The show ran from 1966 to 1968, and its stylistic flash was successfully imitated and refined in shows such as The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In and even Sesame Street. Still later, the show’s influence could be seen on MTV, whose showing of The Monkees spawned a new generation of fans.

The Monkees didn’t begin by writing some songs and making demos like so many “real” bands do. They were not like The Beatles, who had played in obscurity for years in clubs and dives while still in their teens, doing auditions hoping to be discovered but instead being rejected. Yet in spite of its artificial roots, the studio-created Monkees sold millions of records to real fans who enjoyed their music and their show. This set the pattern for other media creations that start in one art form, like music, and then reinvent or expand themselves into another one, like acting. Justin Bieber’s career is the latest example, only for Davy Jones at the peak of his and his group’s popularity; it was many times more intense. The semi-imaginary world of four semi-fictional musicians living their semi-hallucinatory lives not only struck a chord with young viewers and listeners, but adult critics as well, who were impressed as observers, if not as fans.

In the ‘60s, when an act did catch on (if it could break into AM radio), it could become a monster like the kind never seen today and perhaps will never be seen again. If you lived through it, you remember that The Monkees posters and stickers were everywhere and sold by the millions, right along with The Monkees singles and albums, which played endlessly on the radio. For a brief period, their comet threatened to outshine the Beatles. The Monkees are the only artists to have four No. 1-selling albums in the same year, and sold 12 Billboard Top 40 singles, including I’m a Believer, I Wanna Be Free, Daydream Believer, Last Train to Clarksville, and Stepping Stone. The Monkees went on to earn two Emmys.

It’s not surprising that Davy Jones fans are buying up all the Monkees T-shirts. After all, it’s the perfect pop-culture homage to one of the most popular icons of pop culture, someone who grew up in it and wore it well.
