The Musician’s Live In Three Episodes

James Owen Sullivan is the name given on birth to the drummer of the Avenged Sevenfold band who was born on the 9th of February in 1981. He too participated in the Pinkly Smooth together with Synyster Gates and Suburban Legends, a heavy metal band where he was the lead vocalist and pianist. The cooperation with the band was not lengthy; he performed there for only two years from 1998 to 1999.

James got his first drumsticks at the age of 4 and at the age of 10 he got his first drum set! He began to play in different bands at high school and he was inspired by Frank Zappa and King Crimson. The Rev recorded his first album with Avenged Sevenfold at the age of 18. The album was called ‘Sounding the Seventh Trumpet’.

Avenged Sevenfold Drummer’s Death
James Owen Sullivan was found dead at the age of 28 in 2009 at his Southern California home. They scheduled an autopsy to determine the cause of death. After which was stated that he had died of natural causes which was not convincing, taking into consideration his age. Only in half a year the truth was revealed to the public. Toxicology results detected the death was caused by acute polydrug intoxication. James mixed alcohol with Oxycodone, oxymorphone, diazepam and nordiazepam that day.

He was buried in Huntington Beach, California on the 6th of January. Avenged Sevenfold dedicated their 5th album and several songs to him. ‘So Far Away’ is one of them, which was written by Synyster Gates.
